We will be completing a 20km walk using only a paper map and a compass in order to raise money for the ICU/Critical Care department at UCLH. No google maps!
The UCLH Critical Care Unit support patients who require intensive treatment and close monitoring.
They take care of patients and their families both during their stay and once they leave. My family have been on the receiving end and we are very grateful.
There are 35 beds where patients are cared for on a one to one basis by nurses. There are fourteen critical care consultants, who together provide 24-hour cover for the unit alongside specialist departments.
Being in intensive care can be an overwhelming experience so patients are seen by a therapist during their stay and are able to attend the critical care follow-up clinic in order to get back into everyday life.
I wanted to raise money for this unit to thank them for all their care and support, and in turn enabling them to help many others in the future.
Also, if you would like to take part in this walk send me a message!
