I'm running the 10-mile Lee Valley Velo Park race on 27th October 2018 to raise money for the TTP Education and Research Fund which helps patients who develop Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, an acute life-threatening disorder. TTP causes small blood clots in blood vessels, low platelet counts and the destruction of red blood cells.
My mum is one of the 6 people per million in the UK who is affected by this disorder. Since her diagnosis over 30 years ago, I’ve seen her battle with fatigue, dizziness and bruising on her skin that have prevented her from living a normal life.
TTP Education and Research Fund provide resources for a support group where patients can meet and share their experiences as well as research and clinical studies to develop treatments to help patients manage their condition.
I’m supporting this cause to say thank you on behalf of my Mum to everyone who has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and understanding of TTP.
